David is a Founding Partner and the Managing Partner of AVP. He has twenty years of experience as an investor in small and mid-sized growth companies in the technology, media and communications sectors. Prior to co-founding AVP, David was a Managing Director of TPG Growth, the growth equity and middle market investment platform of TPG, where he led the firm’s global technology investing effort. Prior to joining TPG Growth, David was a Partner at Francisco Partners, a technology-focused private equity investment firm, and began his investing career as an Associate at Summit Partners. David is currently a member of the Boards of Directors of Above Average, Compass, Nativo and UCT Holdings, Inc. (Nasdaq: UCTT), and is also involved in the Firm's investments in EVRYTHNG, Gigya and Mediamorph. David received an AB in Public Policy and an AM in International Development Policy from Stanford University, and received an MBA from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
Courtney is a member of AVP's founding team and is a Partner of the Firm. Prior to joining AVP, Courtney was a founding Principal of American Express Ventures. During her tenure at American Express Ventures, she completed investments in companies such as RetailNext, Bill.com, IfOnly, SavingStar and Learnvest (acquired by Northwestern Mutual). Prior to co-founding American Express Ventures, Courtney ran business development and partnership efforts at Plum District, a local market oriented e-commerce business. Courtney began her career at GCA Savvian Advisors, where she was an Associate in the Firm’s Internet group. Courtney is a member of the Board of Directors of Curology, and is also involved in the Firm's investments in Rent the Runway, Monoqi, and Farfetch. Courtney received her BA in Economics from Columbia University.
Alex has spent his entire career focused on technology companies. Prior to joining AVP in August 2015, he was an Associate at ICONIQ Capital, a late-stage technology growth equity fund with $1.5 billion of committed capital. Alex began his career at Morgan Stanley in the Global Technology Group, where he executed mergers and acquisitions, equity and debt offerings, and private placements. Alex received his BBA from the University of Iowa.
Tom is the Chief Financial Officer of AVP and has over eleven years of experience in alternative asset management. Prior to joining AVP, Tom was the Chief Financial and Compliance Officer of RedBird Capital Partners, a growth equity firm. Prior to joining RedBird, Tom was Senior Vice President of Finance at The Electrum Group, a natural resource focused asset manager. Prior to joining The Electrum Group, Tom was the Chief Financial and Compliance Officer at Augusta Columbia Capital Partners, a technology focused investment firm. Tom received a BS in Accountancy from Villanova University, is a Certified Public Accountant and holds the Chartered Global Management Accountant designation from the AICPA. He is a member of the AICPA, the New York State Society of CPAs and serves on the State Society’s Private Equity and Venture Capital Committee.
Andrew is a Founding Partner of AVP and a Senior Advisor to the firm. Andrew joined Advance Publications in January 2011, and as Executive Vice President, Strategy and Corporate Development, he has been responsible for growth initiatives at the holding company and its operating units. Andrew joined Advance from Yahoo! Inc., where he led the digital media company’s Corporate Development team. Prior to joining Yahoo!, Andrew held several executive positions during a five-year tenure at General Electric. Previously, he was Senior Vice President of Corporate Development at InVision Technologies and a Vice President on the Internet investment banking team at Merrill Lynch. Andrew was named to the 2011 Silicon Alley 100, recognized as one of Ad Age’s 2013 “Media Mavens” and was honored with a 2011 TechFellow Award for General Management. Andrew received his BA from the Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, and his JD from New York University School of Law.
